Sarah Ripley began voice lessons at an early age, studying with Helene Hanley and Janet Wake.Â She was one of the first members of the Youth Voices of Kent choir and she competed for many years in Kiwanis Music Festivals in Chatham and Sarnia.
She pursued music at the post-secondary level at the University of Windsor and later at the University of Saskatchewan, graduating with an Honours Bachelor of Music in musicology with voice as her major instrument.Â She then embarked upon post graduate studies at University of Victoria and later at Carleton University where she completed an MA in Canadian Studies with a focus on Canadian Music.Â Her research essay examined the life and works of Canadian Composer Marjorie Kisbey-Hicks.Â Upon completion ofÂ her MA, Sarah completed a Diploma in Event Management at Algonquin College and as co-founder of H.a.R.p. (Hoffman and Ripley Productions), she coordinated events that promoted local artists in the Ottawa area. Sarahâ€™s vocal coaches have included Garry Gable (University of Saskatchewan), Susan Young (University of Victoria) and Shawne Elizabeth (Ottawa).
Sarah has held several church music positions, most recently as soprano lead at First Baptist Church in Ottawa.Â A member of the Ontario Registered Music Teachersâ€™ Association, she maintains an active voice studio and performs regularly in the Ottawa area. Sarah works in alumni relations at Carleton University and she and her husband, Shreedat, live in Ottawa (Barrhaven), with their son, Aidan.
